"Uniting Christians and Fellowships so that they can share together, help and encourage each other"

ABOUT US

Scroll down for details of Ken's book    I Know A Man Who Has A Boat

Open Door grew from the desire to unite Christians from all fellowships in the area.  Ken and Carol began Open Door as a means for this to happen. We believe that Christians working together are more effective and also more true to Bible teaching.

Over the years Christians and non Christians  in and around the area have attended  many events held in Los Almagros arranged by Ken and Carol.  This highlighted a need and Open Door was born.  The aim of Open Door is to unite Christians and Fellowships so that they can share together, help and encourage each other.

Ken and Carol also believe another part of their Ministry  is to facilitate other folk to reach out to people where they are, and support and encourage them in any area as needed.

Feel free to get in touch with Ken & Carol via the                            page.

The Christian Centre survives entirely on the giving of supporters. All funds are used for the promotion of the Gospel and the running costs of the Centre. None of the staff receive expenses or wages.

Our Fifth Year

October 2016 - September 2017

The Christian Centre has completed it's first year.

We have made a lot of new friends with a lot of people coming in to chat or ask questions.  Film nights and concerts have all been held inside and out side the Christian centre.  At Easter we ran an activity day for the children in the area.  This was well attended and the Easter garden that they made is still on display outside the Centre.

We would like to thank all the helpers over the past year.  We could not have opened as often if you had not been there.

The chill n grill nights held in Los Almagros have also been great, with lots of new faces joining us and again we would like to thank Patrick, Christine, Iain and Michelle for providing the music each month.

We have had concerts in the garden and at the Christian Centre and held the 5th 4 day seminar at the end of September.

Another busy year.  God is good.

Our Fourth Year

October 2015 - September 2016

This year saw the opening of the Christian Centre in the Al Kasar Commercial Centre on Condado de Alhama.

The Open Door Christian Centre exists to encourage people to begin or continue in a relationship with God. We are not a church and indeed the supporters and volunteers in the Centre come from a variety of Christian churches who have a desire to share the Gospel.  Gospel means “Good News” and in the world today it is rare to find Good News. The volunteers at the Christian Centre believe that they have really important Good News to share with the people who are on holiday or live on Condado and in the surrounding area. The message is simple but over the years it has been complicated or hidden by Religion. At the Christian centre we encourage you to find God and get to know Him through forming a relationship with Him. This was made possible by God’s Son, Jesus who came to earth, lived among men and women and died in our place. Our relationship with God is not formed by religious practice or traditions and cannot be earned through good works or family or any other advantage.

We believe it is up to each individual person to either accept or reject this relationship with God but we also believe there are consequences for either choice. We believe this life is preparation for the next and we would be very happy to discuss this or other aspects of our relationship with God.

All of us struggle with things in life and contemplating bigger questions might be difficult at times when we are in the thick of it. We do not claim to have all the answers and we are not perfect by any measure but we believe that men and women of every age need a Saviour that is why we share the Gospel because it is “Good News”.

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.....” John 14 v 6

Our Third Year

October 2014 - September 2015

This year has seen a good number of changes. Derek and Lynda run a meeting in their home in Cehegin twice a month now and have mastered the art of the computer stuff, so can run on their own.  A great step and it is wonderful to see God working in their lives and the lives of all who support them in the Ministry.

We have been busy with chill and grill evening and Heat and Meet evenings.  Iain and Michelle have joined the music group and add their own style of folk music to our nights.  Thank you to Patrick and Christine for all the hard work they have put into everything they do.

We have been praying about what the Lord wants us to do next and are now in the process of buying a unit on the Commercial Centre on Condado de Alhama.  We have had to register as a Non Profit making Association to enable us to obtain the correct licenses for live entertainment inside and outside the Unit and to allow us to sell the SMILE cd and other items within the Unit for Fund raising. We are conscious of Gods leading in this as all the whole venture is sustained by donations from our supporters.  The Open Door Christian Centre opened it's doors for the first time at the end of June for a time of prayer.  This was well attended and we followed that with our first Sunday evening meeting on 5th July.  The Christian Centre will be our main focus now.  We will be selling  Bibles in English, Greetings cards with verses inside and many Christian gifts for folk to take back to the UK or to keep here in Spain.  Maria Petrova has given us many of her amazing paintings.  She truely is gifted. The aim of the Centre is to contact people and share the Gospel which is as important today as it always has been and we have been encouraged by fellow Christians who believe this is a good use of time, money and resources.

Our Second Year

October 2013 - September 2014

Another great year.  We had concerts in the garden and made many new friends. Yhe Paul Poulton Project came and James Charlesworth ran the music for the Second Annual 4 day Camp Out.  Stuart Howarth led all the talks during those four days and we were all encouraged and challenged by what Stuart had to share with us.

Martin Ross produced a CD called SMILE with many other well known artists donating their time to add their own songs to it and we have been selling it on ebay, and locally.  So far we have raised well over our expectations for Operation Smile.

The very talented musical Slater Family visited us and we had plenty of folk round to our monthly Chill n grill evenings.

We thank all who have supported us this year and look forward to another terrific twelve months.

We moved onto Camposol for our regular Sunday evening meetings and continue to go up to Cehegin to assist Derek and Lynda there once a month.

“I Know A Man Who Has A Boat” is a recently published book written by local writer Ken Robertson. You can best judge whether it is a good one or not as it is available as a Paperback on Amazon as well as a download on Kindle. A compilation of 52 short stories of exactly 300 words each. Topics range from car parking spaces to particle accelerators to beef burgers with chapter titles such as:  BFFLNMW; The Bubble Wrap Appreciation Society; and Buy For Free. Intended as a ‘Good Read’ the book aims to challenge, entertain and encourage everyone whether they are Christians or not. Ken was born and raised in Scotland and worked as an engineer in heavy industry and latterly with property. Ken’s brief bio states that he has been a Scot for all of his life and a Christian and an Engineer for most of it. He is fascinated with the Bible and equally bemused and frustrated with the world we live in. Ken is pleased with the sales so far and equally surprised that people have found it interesting. One reader is using some of the chapters on local radio in Scotland on a ‘Thought For The Day Slot’. Okay it won’t hit the ‘Best Sellers’ list but Ken is not daunted and is already working on a second book. If you have any difficulty buying a copy or are not familiar with on-line purchasing please contact Ken through Open Door and he can get a copy for you.

OUR FIRST YEAR

September 2012 - September 2013  Open Door's First year.

During this year we have held monthly concerts, including Dave Bilbrough, Noel Richards and Dave Scott-Morgan.

We have raised 14 smiles (2500 euros) for Operation Smile with concerts by Marty Ross, The Harlequin Rock Choir and Barrington.

Our Social events have included Bowling evenings, Pool evenings, Barbecues and times sitting round the Fire Pit, all accompanied by Patrick serenading us into the night!

We have seen two new fellowships establish in the area.. One in Cehegin, where we were able to provide the technology,  and one in Vera.

Our year ended with our first Annual Camp Out, where folk were encouraged to come along to join us for four days of talks on 'The Power Within' led by Dave Scott-Morgan and Alan Smith.  We were blessed with the Testimony and the book from Sandie George and each evening was rounded off with singing and Worship round our new Fire Pit.

God has proved His Faithfullness again and again as we seek to obey Him..  He has blessed us and encouraged us and all who have been a part of Open Door this year.

Throughout the year, we have involved as many different Fellowships in the area as we could and invited them to share our vision of all being part of the One Church of God.

John 13:34,35

So now I am giving you a new commandment,  Love each other.  Just as I have loved you, you should love each other.  Your love for one another will prove to the World that you are my disciples.
