We see 'Light for Bulgaria' not only as a charitable organization but as a movement of the Lord in a country which was oppressed by Communism for over 45 years. Here are some of the projects we do:

 

1. Project One - Mountain villages - We started to visit the isolated mountain villages in South West Bulgaria where people were desperate; they didn't have food, medical support, clothes, emotional support. Over the last 17 years we have reached more than 40 villages. In some of the villages we do have small village church communities where people meet and hear the word and have fellowship. Many people in the villages have committed themselves to the Lord through our work. Some villages have Orthodox churches but very rarely priests come to do a service in the churches, so the only opportunity for these communities to hear about the Lord is when our teams visit them.  Also, in some mountain communities we have been able to run 'Soup' projects feeding the most vulnerable over the coldest months in the year November to March.

2. Project Two - Orphans - over the years we have linked with all orphanages in South West Bulgaria where we provide Bible study lessons for the children; mentoring; aid provision of books, toys, crafts, clothes, ect It has been wonderful to see the changes in many children's lives. Many orphans have also given their lives to the Lord.

3. Project Three - Families in Crisis- we have helped many large families to send their children to school, to have food, to have furniture, clothes, toys, ect. Also, under this project we have been able to rebuild the house of one family who lost their house in fire. We are currently building another house for a desperate family (see photos attached) who lost their house in a fire.

 

4. Project Four - Students and Young People - we believe that the Lord wants to reach the younger generation for Him and we run language clubs for students to advance their English and Spanish which will help them to break the cycle of poverty in their family.  Also we run a Bible Study group weekly which is discipling the young people.
